Irving Fire Station 8 replaces an outdated facility with a two-story, LEED certified station beside the community waterway, pairing road-independent lake access and a boathouse with a towering form that provides visibility over the adjacent flood levee. Airlock vestibules and slide poles link upstairs sleeping and study areas to the apparatus bay, while a yellow transition zone with ample showers and lockers supports showering within the hour and keeps carcinogens out of the living space.
